So Near and Yet So Far – Symbolic Verification of Distance-Bounding Protocols

چکیده

The continuous adoption of Near Field Communication (NFC) tags offers many new applications whose security is essential (e.g., contactless payments). In order to prevent flaws and attacks, we develop in this article a framework allowing us analyse the underlying protocols, taking into account location agents transmission delay when exchanging messages. We propose two reduction results render automatic verification possible relying on existing tool ProVerif . Our first result allows one consider unique topology catch all attacks. second simplifies analysis considering Terrorist fraud. Then, based these results, perform comprehensive case study (27 protocols), which obtain proofs for some protocols detect attacks others.

So Near and Yet So Far: Distance-Bounding Attacks in Wireless Networks

Distance-bounding protocols aim to prevent an adversary from pretending that two parties are physically closer than they really are. We show that proposed distance-bounding protocols of Hu, Perrig and Johnson (2003), Sastry, Shankar and Wagner (2003), and Čapkun and Hubaux (2005, 2006) are vulnerable to a guessing attack where the malicious prover preemptively transmits guessed values for a num...

So far and yet so near?

Developments in computer and communication technologies over the past ten years aptly support the use of the term global village to describe the present worldwide provision and distribution of information. These technologies are increasingly being employed in Africa, but their presence is not widespread and evenly distributed. Librarians in Africa are establishing the basic tools and organizati...

Proximity Operators - So Near And Yet So Far

Testing of the hypothesis that good precision-recall performance can be based entirely on proximity relationships is a focus of current TREC work at ANU. PADRE's \Z-mode" method (based on proximity spans) of scoring relevance has been shown to produce reasonable results for hand-crafted queries in the Adhoc section. It is capable of producing equally good results in database merging and routing...

Comment Ischemia at a Distance - So Close Yet So Far

ST segment elevation in characteristic electrocardiographic leads during an acute myocardial infarction generally allows correct identification of the coronary artery occluded (1). Electrocardiographic changes, usually ST segment depression, are often noted in other leads, presumably representing myocardium sub served by other coronary arteries. What do such changes mean? Are they a benign elec...
